Hannah Moody Lesson 2

March 24, 2015

We worked a lot harder in this lesson. Because in our dressage test some of the judges comments said that Shadows quarters swinging in and we lost quite a lot of marks, Hannah asked me to work on leg yeild and shoulder in so I had more control of her shoulders. We quickly found that Shadow was rubbish at shoulder in, and because I'd never done shoulder in before, at times I didnt quite understand what Hannah wanted from me, so that didn't help but I simply tried to do my best and we sort of managed it.

By the end of the lesson I felt like I could pass out, I was trying so hard to get everything right and keep my legs down, not gripping up, rein there, no wiggling, uphill, energy everything. Hannah may make it hard, but I realised that her teaching makes a difference. after just one lesson it was already showing in my tests, so I was determined to do what ever she said. She made us do leg yielding from H to F, M to K and so on, over and over until I was asking correctly. I don't think I've worked quite so hard, but as they say "no pain, no gain!!!" I think Shadow worked as hard as she ever has in her life, but she really tried to get it right for me and we did do some quite well in the end.

Luckily, I had already done Shadow's stable and made up her tea before we left, so all we had to do was brush her off and check her over, rug her up all nice and warm, and pop her in her stable with her tea. I literally fell straight into bed when we got home, without any tea I was so tired.

Thanks to my lovely sponsors Stone House Solutions for my training, and to The Emporium at Wentworth for my transport.
